SAHI conducts regular rural camps, approximately one every 4-6 weeks in various regions in and around Andhra and Telangana. A group of concerned ENT surgeons, audiologists, and hospital management personnel unite with concerned citizens and organize these medical camps.
A typical camp consists of registrations, general ENT checkups, audiological checkup followed by public awareness programmes and distribution of free hearing aids to those in need. Children identified as hearing or speech impaired are invited to Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad for further examination and treatment. Post-surgery the child is given a year of free Auditory Verbal Therapy at the Hospital.
Till date SAHI has conducted approximately 80 rural camps and has successfully screened more than 14,000 children.
